Haven't updated in a while

It's been pretty ridiculous. I took a stab at 10nl two weeks ago and spiked up 5 buyins in an hour. Doing 43bb/100 was pretty awesome playing rush. I took the stab with 17 buyins, and had about 22, when I hit a 6bi downswing, then another 4bi downswing when I moved down to 5nl. This really wrecked my confidence. So I played .01/.02 and quickly had an 8 buyin upswing in about 2 hours. What else is new... people shoving 2nd pair no kicker, obviously chasing draws, obvious when they hit them. obvious when they hit anything. i played about 1400 hands at .01/.02, then shot back to 5nl. After two breakeven sessions I spiked a 5 bi uphike, and now I'm back around $170. I'll give 10nl another shot at 180... hopefully this time I break through. Its insane how much rake I've paid between switching to 5nl. About $325 in september vs about $45 in august.

However, the rakeback is super sexy. I'm so excited to move up and really crush with that type of return.

Progress

Okay, so after all those heaters I donked off a ton of my roll down to $105, and I had to re-evaluate my game. After reading a ton of good posts on 2+2 I found a couple really solid hitters. This post was fantastic:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/78/micro-stakes-full-ring/concept-week-19-some-common-leaks-unl-506062/

if you could read that it'll help you plug a lot of good leaks, mainly with betting for information. Betting when you have a solid hand is a great way of raping the rush tables. I immediately took this information, and stopped Cbetting too heavy because it would only really lead me to double barreling and loosing 20bb in a hand I had nothing to do with. I quickly turned my game around and I'm back at $155. I'll be working up to 170 then I'm going to give a couple cash games a shot. The main thing with moving up in stakes is keeping the aggression on.  What was wrong with me for the first couple of 5nl cash games was that I was running hot, so the aggression was easy, but after I started running into some marginal hands that were still good, I would fold as soon as there was any doubt. When you have 2nd pair with a great kicker, it was hard for me to barrel someone because I'd always assign them to a hand that was better than mine. When I was playing rush this is when I really became appreciative of aggression frequency and putting pressure on those with hands that are running equal to mine, and folding out to more 3bets.

I've lost the most BI's at 5nl by not following the baluga theorem. If you're getting 3bet on the turn with TPTK.. you need to seriously evaluate the strength of your hand and the characteristics of the villain. If the villain is 3bet happy and has been seen showing up after 3betting with marginal hands, then flatting his 3bet and re-evaluating on the river might show positive results. If you have TPTK and a draw at the same time, typically thats enough equity to ship it over them, but flatting is still better because if you miss your draw you have the opportunity to save money on the river, however calling a turn raise to fold a river is typically a bad play. Usually if villain is full of shit they'll make a bet sizing error on the river anyways.

The Downswing on 5nl

So, ran mostly card dead and played too many marginal hands. It was gross, i was -5bi on 5nl and up 4 on 2nl.

Worst hand tonight, and why I was running under EV:

First stab at 5nl... great success

So I completely plowed 5nl this morning, which is great because now I can play the stake stress free. I had about 117 in my BR this morning and I figured I'd give it a shot while I was waiting for work to start... and it couldn't have been better. This is my run today. The first couple hundred are from 2nl, but you can tell when I started up the 5nl table.. first hand I put money into was a pair of 6's and hit a set against a guy with a huge stack and AK on like an A69 board. Woot.

The uNL climb so far

Just wanted to drop a graph in here for reference in the future for how I was looking before I made stabs at 5nl. I'll be hitting the tables tomorrow after work for a solid grind of 2nl until I'm feeling on top, then I'm gonna pop open two 5nl tables and play tight and in position.

Graph from last night

Heres the graph from last night. Super awesome heater. Here's to hoping that my cards run that hot again soon.
